October Matchup vs. NASA - Preview

In Team Maine's first matchup of the 2013-14 season on Saturday October 26th, the boys and girls from lobstah nation will be squaring off against the team that handed them their biggest loss of the previous season, 21.5-14.5.  Under a different set of circumstances this year, Coach Jason Toothaker believes his team will take the first match of the new season.

"Sure, losing by 7 points really stung.  It was nice to beat them in the 2nd round of the TC finals, but it was our first loss.  This time it's at our house.  We won't be embarrassed again."

It was the first loss Team Maine [then known as team Pleasant Hill] suffered, having breezed its way through B-pool play the previous year with a 5-0 record and a first place finish in TC finals.

Team NASA features a talented lineup including stars Jim Wills, Daniel Marcus and Jerel Davis as well as Mainers Jeff Conant, Marielle Mallar and Scott Mallar. Toothaker believes that course selection for singles/doubles play and strategic player matchups will be key factors contributing to a potential Maine win.

"Our guys are breathing fire right now, and everyone on the team rocked the Maine Players Tour hard this season--constantly improving their game.  It's the time of year where we get to have a good time with other teams from around New England, while at the same time retaining the killer instinct on the course that gives us cause for celebration."
